A few highlights...

  • Duplicate title/meta tags on many pages in a website is BAD for overall ranking in Google.
  • Participation in link schemes or actively buying links must be done with care. Be very wary of the sites/directories you exchange or request links from.
  • Quality of the Document Content (as measured algorithmically) is still VERY important.
  • External links to low quality/spam sites does harm your rankings.
  • Real abuse of targeted keywords (Stuffing) in pages is being flagged.
  • Keyword use in body text as well as related words to the target kws is growing in importance.
  • Making sure the anchor text of inbound links to your site is relevantly keyworded is highly important.
  • Link popularity of site in topical community is important, you need to be part of these topical hubs to build ranking.
